Domaine Renucci : a fine Corsican rosé
The wines from this tourist paradise are still little-known. What a terrible pity. Corsican wines are like the island's landscapes: beautiful, characteristic and exceptional. The native varietals, notably niellucio and sciaccarello, add a breath of originality to French winemaking.
In Feliceto, at the heart of the Balagne micro-region, Bernard Renucci oversees 17 hectares in an estate that dates back to the 19th century. He is one of the driving forces behind the Calvi appellation and the entire Corsican wine sector.
The "Vignola" rosé comes from his best plots, and sciaccarello, which makes up most of the assembly, undergoes pre-fermentation that gives it its lovely bright pink colour that recalls a maiden's blush. This refined, ample wine calls out for cuisine rich in flavour, like Corsican specialities such as coppa ham and blackbird pâté. The perfect pairing…
Vignola is more than a simple rosé, it is a rosé to be admired, a rosé that deserves some time in a carafe (with the Freshness model, it can even be kept chilled in an ice bucket). The precision of the Open Up Soft glass will allow its spice and berry notes to flourish.
Here's to Balagne, and here's to Corsican rosés!
