The type of glass plays a central role in the tasting process. In addition to making your table look elegant, it can even modify your perception of the wine.
A transparent glass
The glass must be completely transparent, as if it were taken over by the wine. While we may find them charming, coloured and ornate models make it difficult to evaluate a wine’s colour. Kwarx® glasses offer incomparable transparency.
Avoid small glasses
Models that hold over 30 cl are now preferred for reds as well as for whites. They offer a greater surface area in contact with the air, thus fostering the expression of aromas.
What shape should you choose?
We know that the glass’ shape can enhance an aroma and guide the wine to a specific area of the tongue to accentuate a flavour. There are models specifically designed for reds, whites, young wines and specific grape varieties. There are also excellent “universal” glasses that are suitable for all types of tasting.
